War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, hit theatres on 14 August 2025 as part of the YRF Spy Universe. Mounted on a massive budget and positioned as one of the year’s biggest event films, it was expected to open strong across India.

With a reported budget of ₹400 crore, it is among the most expensive Indian films ever made. Featuring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR in his Hindi debut, and Kiara Advani, expectations were sky-high, especially after massive pre‑release marketing and earlier blockbusters like War and Pathaan from Spy Universe.

In an epic box office clash, Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 were released together on August 14. Despite stiff competition, both films had superb openings, leaving the makers hopeful that the Independence Day weekend would provide an extra surge to the films’ collection. But on weekdays, films failed to meet expectations.

War 2 Crosses 144 Crore In 6 Days In Hindi With Slightly Better Tuesday

Spy Universe film War 2 managed to defy mixed reviews and negative word of mouth to an extent. After collecting 29 crore net on day one, film jumped by 45% on day two and collected 46 crore net which is excellent result though this growth came primarily due to big national holiday. Film dropped on day three and collected 27 crore net. Film dropped further instead of growth on Sunday and collected 28 crore net.

After 130 crore net over four day weekend, film dropped drastically on day 5 Monday by 75% and collected 7 crore net. Word of mouth finally came to into the play and now film will nosedive from here. Film managed stay afloat on Tuesday due to discounted ticket rates and collected 6.5 crore net. This is decent considering heavy rains across Maharashtra and negative word of mouth.

Film has total of 144.50 crore net in 6 days and is heading for 155 crore net Hindi 1st week and 325 crore worldwide gross. Film crashed in Telugu and collected 1.5 crore on Monday and 1 crore on Tuesday after 52 crore gross over four day weekend. Film also crossed 310 crore worldwide gross after 6 days after 276 crore gross after over four day extended weekend.
