Thamma Box Office Day 4: Huge Drop, Misses ₹60 Cr Mark

Must read

Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s latest release “Thamma” has hit a rough patch at the box office after an initially strong start. Following a promising opening weekend, the film witnessed a steep decline in its earnings on Day 4 (Friday), failing to cross the ₹60 crore mark within its first four days of release.

According to early trade estimates, “Thamma” collected just around ₹6–7 crore on Friday, marking a significant dip from its Day 3 figures. The total domestic collection now stands close to ₹58 crore. While the film began its journey with high audience anticipation and strong word of mouth, weekday competition and mixed reviews seem to have slowed its momentum.

The first three days had been encouraging for the makers, as “Thamma” garnered over ₹50 crore by Thursday, driven largely by Ayushmann’s dedicated fan base and the curiosity surrounding the film’s unique social-emotional storyline. However, the Friday slump has raised concerns over the film’s ability to sustain its box office performance in the coming week.

Directed by Anirudh Sharma, “Thamma” blends emotional family drama with a social message, focusing on generational relationships and modern Indian values. Audiences praised the chemistry between Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, while Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s supporting role added depth and intensity to the narrative. Despite this, trade experts believe the film’s pacing and emotional tone may have limited its mass appeal.

Industry analyst Taran Adarsh shared that the film’s fourth-day dip was expected due to its niche target audience and lack of strong repeat value. “While ‘Thamma’ opened to decent numbers, sustaining that momentum is challenging in the current box office climate, especially with multiple releases lined up next week,” he said.

The film’s performance is being closely watched as it competes with several other mid-budget releases and upcoming blockbusters. Despite the Friday drop, “Thamma” continues to trend on social media, with fans sharing emotional clips, dialogues, and praising Ayushmann’s sensitive portrayal. Hashtags like #Thamma, #AyushmannKhurrana, and #RashmikaMandanna have remained among the top film-related trends on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram since its release.

For Ayushmann Khurrana, who is known for taking on unconventional roles, “Thamma” was seen as a crucial project marking his return to emotional drama after a string of light-hearted films. Rashmika Mandanna, meanwhile, continues her successful run in Bollywood following hits like Animal and Goodbye. The film also marks Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s first collaboration with both leads, adding to its initial hype.

The production team remains optimistic about a rebound over the weekend. With positive family audiences and strong evening occupancies expected on Saturday and Sunday, “Thamma” might regain some traction. However, the real test will be whether it can maintain consistent collections beyond the first week.

Despite the recent dip, “Thamma” is being appreciated for its storytelling and emotional core. The film’s heartfelt moments and Ayushmann’s nuanced performance continue to resonate with a section of the audience, keeping it alive in the public conversation even as its commercial numbers fluctuate.

As the box office battle heats up, “Thamma”’s journey serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of today’s film market—where even strong performances and good content need sustained audience engagement to achieve blockbuster status
