Finally arriving on big screens, Rishab Shetty's eagerly anticipated Kantara: Chapter 1 caused a stir at the box office on its first day of release.The movie, which was released on Dussehra, became one of the biggest openers of 2025 with a staggering ₹60 crore worldwide. Although it made more money than Chhaava, it is only slightly less than Rajinikanth's Coolie (₹65 crore) and They Call Him OG (₹63 crore). The movie made an estimated ₹19–21 crore in the Hindi market alone, making it the second highest Hindi opening for a Kannada film after KGF Chapter 2.
