Prime Minister says Gulf nations prioritising Indians’ safety, accuses Congress of politicising Middle East crisis

Prime Minister: on Sunday asserted that the safety and security of Indian citizens living in the Gulf region remains the government’s top priority amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Addressing a public rally in Palakkad, Kerala, the Prime Minister said that India is closely monitoring the evolving situation and is taking all necessary steps to ensure that Indians in affected regions remain safe and supported.

Highlighting the government’s proactive approach, PM Modi said he has been in constant touch with leaders of countries involved in the conflict. According to him, these nations have assured India that the safety of Indian citizens is being prioritised. He emphasised that Indian embassies in the region are functioning round the clock to provide assistance, guidance, and support to those in need. The Prime Minister noted that a large number of Indians, particularly from Kerala, are working in Gulf countries, making their safety a matter of utmost concern.

The Prime Minister further stated that the Centre is making continuous efforts to minimise the impact of the conflict on India. He added that various government agencies are working in coordination to monitor developments and respond swiftly to any emerging challenges. PM Modi assured that there is no need for panic, as the government is fully prepared to handle any situation arising from the crisis.

At the same time, the Prime Minister launched a strong political attack on the Congress party, accusing it of politicising a sensitive issue. He alleged that certain statements made by Congress leaders could create unnecessary fear and confusion among Indians living abroad. According to him, such remarks are not only irresponsible but could also potentially put lives at risk.

PM Modi claimed that the Congress is attempting to gain political mileage from the crisis instead of supporting national efforts. He said that at a time when unity and responsibility are needed, politicising the issue could harm India’s global image and undermine efforts to protect its citizens. The Prime Minister urged all political parties to act responsibly and stand united in the national interest.

Extending his criticism, PM Modi also targeted both the Congress and Left parties over governance issues. He alleged that wherever these parties have been in power, development has suffered and administrative efficiency has declined. Referring to states like West Bengal and Tripura under Left rule, and several Congress-ruled states, he claimed that their governance record has been marked by economic challenges and stalled progress.

Focusing on Kerala, the Prime Minister pointed to recent controversies regarding delays in salary payments, dearness allowance (DA), and leave encashment for government employees. He argued that such issues reflect poor financial management and administrative inefficiency. According to him, while Congress criticises the Left government in Kerala, similar problems exist in states where Congress itself is in power.

The Prime Minister also cited Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh as examples, alleging that development work has slowed down and economic conditions have worsened under Congress rule. He described this as a pattern that reflects what he termed the “Congress governance model.”

Reiterating his main message, PM Modi emphasised that the government’s priority remains the safety and well-being of every Indian citizen, whether in the country or abroad. He assured that India will continue to engage with international partners and take all necessary measures to safeguard its people during the ongoing global crisis.

The Prime Minister concluded by urging citizens to remain calm and trust the government’s efforts, stating that India is capable of handling challenges effectively through coordinated action and strong leadership.
