PM Modi Advocates Human-Centric AI Vision

Must read

PM Modi :Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the need for developing an artificial intelligence future that fosters innovation, enhances inclusion, and is founded on robust human values. Speaking at the Leaders’ Plenary during the India AI Impact Summit, Prime Minister Modi said that the true impact of AI will be felt only when technology and human trust march ahead together.

Prime Minister Modi said that the vision and direction of India regarding artificial intelligence are very clear. According to him, artificial intelligence should be considered a common global resource that is intended for the benefit of all human beings. He said that the AI technology should be available to all, and it should be the aim of every country to ensure equal access to it.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the aspirational India has an important role to play in the international AI journey. He was confident that the summit would help in developing a human-centric and sensitive global AI ecosystem. While referring to history, he said that humanity has always turned disruptions into opportunities and that the world is at the same turning point in the case of artificial intelligence.

Mr. Modi also referred to the spiritual heritage of India and quoted the wisdom of Lord Buddha. He said that India, the land where Buddha achieved enlightenment, is still leading the world with the message of peace and understanding. He quoted the words of Lord Buddha, “Right action comes from right understanding,” and emphasized that countries need to work together to develop a roadmap that has the correct understanding of the impact of AI.

egarding the ethical application of artificial intelligence, the Prime Minister made three important recommendations. First, he stressed the need for a robust and trustworthy data framework for AI development that takes data sovereignty into consideration. He said that if AI systems are trained on insecure, biased, or unreliable data, the results cannot be trusted. Hence, a global and trustworthy data framework is required to ensure transparency, accuracy, and accountability in AI development.

Second, Mr. Modi stressed the need for transparent and clear safety standards for AI platforms. He urged the need to shift from the “black box” approach to a more transparent “glass box” approach, where safety standards and processes are transparent and verifiable. This will promote ethical business practices and increase trust in AI systems.

Third, the Prime Minister mentioned the famous “paperclip problem” that is often cited in AI research. He said that if a machine is provided with a narrow objective, such as making paperclips, it may go on with that task ad infinitum, even if it means depleting all global resources. This example, he said, illustrates the need for AI to be driven by human values and ethics.

Throughout his speech, Mr. Modi again emphasized that innovation and responsibility should go side by side. He said that AI should be a multiplier for society and not a monopoly in the hands of a few. By achieving technological advancements along with moral directions, the world can make sure that AI is used for the betterment of humanity.
