Today, Nitish Kumar will take the oath of office as Chief Minister once more, marking the official formation of Bihar’s new government. Leaders familiar with the developments predict that he will be sworn in alongside two deputy chief ministers and a group of eighteen ministers.
The strength and balance of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar will be reflected in the new council of ministers, according to a BJP leader cited in a report. “The Chief Minister and two Deputy Chief Ministers are among the eighteen ministers who are scheduled to take an oath on Thursday,” the leader stated.
The current understanding among alliance partners is that the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will each likely have six ministers. The smaller NDA allies, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) [HAM-S], and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) [LJP (RV)], are anticipated to win the final three ministerial seats.
Top state and federal officials are anticipated to attend the swearing-in ceremony in Patna. The political significance of the new Bihar government is highlighted by the likelihood of attendance by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Union ministers, and chief ministers from other NDA-ruled states.
Intense discussions have taken place to guarantee political, caste, and regional balance in the new cabinet, even though the final list of ministers has not yet been made public. As Bihar gets ready for yet another Nitish Kumar-led NDA government and a new portfolio distribution among important alliance partners, all eyes are now on Raj Bhavan.
