Must read

The Malayalam superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is rewriting box office records with its phenomenal run. Within just four days of release, the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer has collected over ₹63 crore worldwide, surpassing the lifetime haul of the 2013 blockbuster Drishyam (₹62 crore).

Blockbuster Opening Weekend

The film made a powerful entry into theatres with a steady opening, but word-of-mouth and strong reviews triggered a massive jump over the weekend. On Sunday (Day 3), it earned around ₹10 crore net, marking a 30% rise from Saturday and a stunning 280% growth compared to its opening day. By the end of Day 4, the domestic collection stood at ₹24.3 crore net (₹28.4 crore gross).

Strong Overseas Performance

Lokah Chapter 1 isn’t just dominating Indian theatres; it has also impressed overseas audiences. With a $4 million (approx. ₹35 crore) collection from markets like North America and the Middle East, the film has solidified its global appeal.

A New Milestone for Malayalam Cinema

The success of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra marks a historic moment for Malayalam cinema. In just four days, the film has broken into the list of the top 25 highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time, setting new benchmarks for regional superhero storytelling.

The Road Ahead

Industry experts predict that if the film continues its momentum, it could challenge the lifetime records of some of the biggest Malayalam hits, including Pulimurugan and 2018. With audiences showering love and critics praising its visual spectacle, Lokah Chapter 1 is well on its way to becoming a landmark film.
