Lionel Messi Delhi Visit: Delhi Police has tightened security and imposed traffic restrictions ahead of football star Lionel Messi’s visit to the national capital. Delhi is the final stop of Messi’s GOAT Tour of India.
Messi is scheduled to attend an event at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 1 pm to 4 pm. Police are on high alert, especially after chaos broke out during Messi’s Kolkata visit earlier in the tour. His events in Hyderabad and Mumbai, however, passed off smoothly.
A senior police officer said a multi-layered security arrangement has been put in place with a strong focus on crowd control, access management, and traffic regulation. Multiple security rings have been created around the stadium, and additional police and paramilitary forces have been deployed.
Entry into the stadium will be allowed only with valid passes. Police have also set up frisking points, anti-sabotage checks, and CCTV surveillance as part of the security plan. Quick reaction teams and emergency response units will remain on standby throughout the event.
On the traffic front, special arrangements have been made. Labelled vehicles will be allowed to park at designated areas, including P1 near Vikram Nagar. Vehicles without labels must be parked at Rajghat Powerhouse parking and Mata Sundari Lane, from where people can walk to the stadium.
App-based taxi users have been advised to get down at Rajghat Chowk and walk to the venue. Parking is strictly prohibited near the stadium, and illegally parked vehicles will be towed and fined.
Police expect heavy public movement from 11 am onwards. Commuters have been advised to avoid Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, ITO, Delhi Gate, Netaji Subhash Marg, and Brijmohan Chowk during the event hours. The public has also been encouraged to use metro and buses to avoid traffic congestion
