Bollywood actress Lara Dutta has safely returned to India with her daughter Saira after being stranded in Dubai during the escalating tensions in the Middle East caused by the Iran–Israel conflict. The actress shared details of the frightening experience, revealing how she navigated a tense situation while ensuring her daughter’s safety.
The conflict had triggered uncertainty and fear across several parts of the region, leaving many travellers and residents worried about their safety. Lara Dutta, who has been living in Dubai for the past three years, found herself caught in the middle of the crisis when the situation escalated.
A Frightening Situation in Dubai
Speaking about the ordeal in an interview, Lara revealed that she was staying in Dubai with her 14-year-old daughter Saira when the tensions intensified. Her husband, former tennis champion Mahesh Bhupathi, was away in London for work at the time.
The actress explained that the area where she lived was located about 10 kilometres from Jebel Ali Port, a major shipping hub that reportedly became a target during the conflict. According to Lara, the sounds and reports of attacks in nearby areas created a deeply unsettling atmosphere.
Despite the fear and uncertainty, Lara decided to leave the area with her daughter in order to reunite with her family.
A Risky Journey to Safety
Lara recounted that she and her daughter undertook a two-hour drive to Fujairah, another emirate in the United Arab Emirates. The journey itself came shortly after reports that the port and oil refinery in the region had been targeted.
“It was terrifying,” Lara admitted while describing the tense moments during the journey. The actress said that despite the frightening circumstances, she tried to maintain a positive attitude.
In a light-hearted remark, Lara revealed that she jokingly told actor Akshay Kumar that the entire experience made her feel as though she was part of a sequel to the hit film Airlift, which was based on the evacuation of Indians during the Gulf War.
Gratitude to UAE Authorities
During the difficult period, Lara also expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Government of the United Arab Emirates. In a video she shared earlier on social media, the actress thanked the authorities for ensuring the safety of residents and travellers during the crisis.
She acknowledged that the government had taken several precautionary measures and worked to keep people informed amid the rapidly evolving situation.
Other Celebrities Also Affected
Lara Dutta was not the only Indian celebrity caught in the tense situation. Several other actors who were in the UAE at the time also faced travel disruptions and uncertainty.
Among those reportedly stranded in Dubai were actresses Sonal Chauhan, Esha Gupta, and Nargis Fakhri, as well as actors Vishnu Manchu and Ajith Kumar.
Their presence in the region during the heightened tensions attracted attention on social media, with fans expressing concern for their safety.
A Safe Return Home
Now back in India, Lara Dutta has expressed relief that she and her daughter managed to return home safely. The experience, while frightening, also highlighted the unpredictable challenges faced by people living or travelling abroad during geopolitical conflicts.
For the actress, the ordeal served as a reminder of the importance of family and safety during uncertain times. While she handled the situation with courage and composure, Lara’s story also offered a glimpse into the anxiety felt by many individuals caught in conflict-affected regions.
With the crisis still unfolding in parts of the Middle East, Lara Dutta’s safe return has brought relief to her fans and well-wishers, who flooded social media with messages of support and concern during the incident.
