Kartik Purnima 2025: Date, Significance & Rituals

Must read

Kartik Purnima, also known as Tripuri Purnima or Dev Deepawali, is one of the most sacred full moon days in the Hindu calendar. It holds immense spiritual and religious importance as devotees believe that this day brings divine blessings, peace, and prosperity. According to Hindu traditions, taking a holy dip in the Ganges or any other sacred river on Kartik Purnima helps cleanse one’s sins and purify both body and soul. The ritual symbolizes inner purification and is believed to pave the path toward moksha (liberation).

The day also marks the worship of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Goddess Lakshmi. Devotees observe fasts, offer prayers, perform charity, and light lamps (Deepdaan) to spread positivity and light in their lives. The festival beautifully represents the victory of divine light over darkness, both in the physical and spiritual sense.

In 2025, the Purnima Tithi begins on November 4 (Tuesday) at 11:37 PM and ends on November 5 (Wednesday) at 6:49 PM. Since the full moon will prevail at sunrise on November 5, all rituals and observances will be celebrated on this day. Devotees begin their sacred bath in the early hours of Brahma Muhurta to receive maximum spiritual benefits.

Kartik Purnima is thus not just a festival but a divine experience that promotes peace, positivity, and self-enlightenment. It reminds devotees to walk the path of truth, devotion, and purity while embracing the eternal light of faith and goodness.
