New Delhi, 8 August 2025 –
In a significant political move, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) has unanimously decided to contest the upcoming Vice-Presidential elections. This decision comes despite the alliance not having the required numbers to secure a win. The aim is to send a strong symbolic message and ensure a democratic contest rather than letting the ruling party win unopposed.
The consensus was reached during a dinner meeting hosted by Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, where top INDIA bloc leaders deliberated on the current political scenario.
Sources reveal that the INDIA bloc views this move as part of its broader strategy to challenge the dominance of the ruling NDA and assert its presence in national politics, even in the face of numerical disadvantage.
While the name of the candidate is yet to be finalised, party insiders suggest that discussions are underway to project a consensus candidate with wide acceptability within the opposition ranks.
This decision is being seen as a continuation of the bloc’s recent efforts to stand united and build momentum ahead of future political battles.
