Veteran Bollywood legend Dharmendra was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Monday, sparking concern among fans and industry colleagues. However, his family has assured everyone that the 88-year-old actor is stable and recovering well. On Tuesday morning, daughter Esha Deol shared on social media that her father’s condition had improved and thanked well-wishers for their prayers. Hema Malini, the actor’s wife, also confirmed that he is responding positively to treatment. Close family members including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Tanya Deol were seen at the hospital throughout Monday. Several Bollywood stars—among them Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha Patel—visited to check on the veteran actor’s health.
A spokesperson for Sunny Deol dismissed rumours that the “Sholay” star had been placed on a ventilator, clarifying that Dharmendra remains under medical observation and is receiving the best possible care. “Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Please refrain from spreading false news. The family appreciates your prayers and requests privacy,” the representative said. A planned film event featuring the actor has been cancelled out of respect for his recovery period. Known as the ‘He-Man of Bollywood’, Dharmendra’s career spans over six decades with iconic roles in films such as Phool Aur Patthar, Seeta Aur Geeta, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Dost, and the timeless classic Sholay. Fans across the country continue to pray for his speedy recovery and look forward to seeing the beloved star back in good health soon.
