Lokesh Kanagaraj’s much-anticipated Tamil film “Coolie,” starring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, and Shruti Haasan, has created history at the box office even before its release.
In the United States, the film’s premiere advance bookings have crossed the $2 million mark, making it the first Tamil film to achieve this milestone. The previous record was held by Rajinikanth’s own “Kabali,” which had grossed around $1.92 million in pre-sales.
With this feat, “Coolie” has surpassed not only “Kabali” but also Vijay’s “Leo” and Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan: I.” Trade analysts believe the numbers could rise even higher before release, setting the stage for a massive opening day.
The film’s ensemble cast, high-octane action, and Rajinikanth’s star power have generated immense excitement among audiences. The presence of Nagarjuna and Shruti Haasan has further boosted its pan-India and international appeal.
This stellar performance in US premiere pre-sales signals that “Coolie” has every chance of becoming one of the biggest blockbusters of 2025.
