Bageshwar Dham Pad Yatra Causes Traffic Restrictions in Delhi

Must read

The national capital, Delhi, is facing significant traffic restrictions today as thousands of devotees participate in the Bageshwar Dham Pad Yatra led by Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, popularly known as Bageshwar Dham Baba. The procession is starting from the Adya Katyayani Temple in Chhatarpur and is expected to proceed toward the Shri Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities estimate that more than 50,000 followers are taking part in the yatra, causing the Delhi Traffic Police to issue special advisories for commuters.

The Pad Yatra is scheduled to begin at 11 AM, with devotees traveling on foot as well as in large convoys of vehicles. Due to the massive gathering, several major routes in and around Chhatarpur and Mehrauli are likely to experience traffic delays, road closures, and diversions. The Traffic Police have advised commuters to avoid traveling through these areas unless necessary.

Key stretches, including Chhatarpur Mandir Road, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, IGNOU Road, and nearby internal routes, are expected to be heavily congested. Heavy and medium commercial vehicles have been restricted on specific stretches to ensure crowd safety and smoother procession movement. Parking has also been restricted in the major adjoining temples and public congregation points.

Residents and daily commuters have been advised to plan their routes accordingly or use public transport options where possible. Emergency and essential service vehicles will be allowed but are still likely to face slow traffic movement due to the volume of people participating in the yatra.

As the procession is expected to continue over multiple days on its way to Vrindavan, additional traffic advisories may be issued depending on crowd movement and route changes. The Delhi Traffic Police has urged citizens to stay updated via helpline numbers, traffic social media alerts, and local announcements.
