National Award-winning actor Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to collaborate with legendary director Sooraj Barjatya for his next big family entertainer, Prem Ki Shaadi. Ayushmann will be taking on the iconic character name ‘Prem’, a role that has been famously associated with superstar Salman Khan for over thirty years.
According to industry reports, Ayushmann is scheduled to begin shooting for the film in October 2025. This collaboration marks a fresh and exciting chapter for both the actor and Rajshri Productions.
A Fresh Story For A New Generation
While the title Prem Ki Shaadi was originally announced with Salman Khan, sources have confirmed that the project with the superstar did not move forward. The film being made with Ayushmann Khurrana is based on a completely new script written specifically for him.
A source close to the production shared that this is not the same film that was discussed with Salman. The team wants to reinvent the character of Prem for today’s audience. However, the movie will hold on to the strong family values and traditions that are a signature of all Rajshri films, ensuring it connects with audiences of all ages.
Grand Preparations Are Underway
The pre-production for the film is already in full swing. Preparations for the first shooting schedule have begun in Mumbai, with work happening on three massive sets at the same time. These grand sets are being built at Chitrakoot Grounds in Andheri and Ellora Studios in Mira Road.
A crew member revealed that different art teams are working hard to bring the director’s vision to life. One of the sets is being designed to look like a beautiful temple courtyard, while another is a large, detailed house. The cast, including Ayushmann, is expected to start with script reading sessions by the end of September before the cameras start rolling.
