Modi targets focus on inclusive growth, jobs and infrastructure across

Assam: Narendra Modi on Monday reiterated that the development of every district and region of Assam remains a top priority for his party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, and its alliance, the National Democratic Alliance. Addressing a poll rally in Hojai, Assam, the Prime Minister emphasized that balanced regional growth is central to the government’s vision. He alleged that during the tenure of the Indian National Congress, the state was deprived of development and governance largely served political interests rather than public welfare. According to him, when the BJP came to power, Assam’s infrastructure and overall conditions were in a poor state. Highlighting key achievements, Modi pointed to the transformation in the power sector, stating that Assam, which once relied heavily on other states for electricity, has now emerged as a model in power generation. He added that improved electricity availability is crucial for industrial growth, as it attracts investment, encourages the establishment of new industries, and ultimately generates employment opportunities for the youth. The Prime Minister also underlined that the government’s focus has been on long-term, sustainable development rather than short-term political gains.

Referring to upcoming industrial projects, Modi highlighted the proposed semiconductor facility in Morigaon, stating that chip production at the plant will create opportunities across multiple sectors, including electronics and electric vehicles. He said that Assam’s ongoing industrial expansion is paving the way for sustained economic growth and job creation. Earlier in the day, while addressing another rally in Barpeta, Modi expressed confidence that the BJP will form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term. He described the past decade as a period of peace and prosperity for the state, marking a shift from earlier challenges of instability and insecurity. He added that improved infrastructure and connectivity have significantly boosted the tourism sector, contributing to the state’s economy. Criticising the Congress again, Modi alleged that the party lacked a long-term development vision and focused on short-term political benefits. In contrast, he said the BJP is working with a clear roadmap to achieve the vision of a “Viksit Assam” as part of a broader “Viksit Bharat.” The Prime Minister is also scheduled to address another election rally in Dibrugarh later in the day, continuing his campaign outreach in the state.
