Delhi Blast Triggers Major Security Crackdown in Faridabad Around Al-Falah University

Must read

Faridabad / New Delhi, November 15, 2025 — The ongoing investigation into a devastating car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort has spurred a sweeping security operation in Faridabad, with authorities conducting mosque inspections, interrogating imams and detaining key figures linked to Al-Falah University’s medical faculty.

Mosque Checks and Interrogations

Following the suspected terrorist attack in Delhi, security agencies launched a crackdown in Faridabad, focusing on mosques associated with Al-Falah University. Local police, supported by central agencies, have been questioning imams and other mosque functionaries to uncover potential links between religious institutions and the terror module.

Sources from the investigation suggest that at least 15 doctors affiliated with Al-Falah University are now unaccounted for, their communication lines reportedly switched off, raising fears that they have gone underground. The scale of the probe has drawn the attention of multiple agencies, including the NIA, the ED, and state police forces.

Al-Falah University: A Hub of the Investigation

Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana — located about 45 km from Delhi — has emerged as a major focus of terror investigations following the blast. The university is now alleged to be the operational base of a “radicalised doctors’ module.”

Investigators claim to have recovered nearly 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate, along with rifles and other explosive materials, from rented accommodation associated with doctors linked to the university. Among the key figures are Dr. Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie and Dr. Shaheen Shahid, both of whom taught MBBS students at the university. The third major suspect, Umar Un Nabi, is identified as the driver of the car that exploded near Red Fort.

In addition, investigators are scrutinizing a mosque on campus. Mohd Istaq, the cleric at that mosque, is under investigation for possible links with the terror network.

Diaries Reveal Long-Term Conspiracy

Notebooks seized from accommodation tied to the suspects appear to unravel two years of planning. These diaries allegedly contain coded entries referring to “operations” scheduled between November 8 and 12, with specific dates, names, and numbers.

Officials believe the doctors may have been planning multiple attacks, with the Red Fort blast possibly just one in a series. The scale and sophistication of the plot have drawn deep concern, with investigators calling it “an elaborate terror setup.”

University’s Response

Al-Falah University’s leadership has strongly denied institutional involvement. Vice Chancellor Dr. Bhupinder Kaur Anan said in an official statement that the detained individuals were employed in their professional capacity only, and there was no connection beyond that.

The university also rejected claims that its labs harbored explosives or chemicals, insisting that all laboratory work is strictly academic and compliant with regulations. They expressed regret over the negative publicity and said they are fully cooperating with investigative agencies.

Detentions and Agency Action

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained three doctors linked to Al-Falah University. These include:

  • Dr. Mushtakeem, who had recently completed his MBBS and interned at the university.

  • Dr. Mohammad, another recent graduate.

  • Dr. Rehaan Hayat, who worked at a private hospital after finishing his degree.

Investigators say call-record analysis shows these individuals were frequently in contact with Dr. Umar Un Nabi and Dr. Muzammil, suggesting possible coordination.

Additionally, records from university hostels, staff appointments, and financial transactions are being closely examined. The National Medical Council (NMC) has also cancelled registrations of four doctors affiliated with Al-Falah University.

Local Anxiety and Fallout

The arrest of several doctors has triggered fear and unease in Dhouj village, which houses much of the Al-Falah campus.  Students, staff, and locals are reportedly under stress, worried about their association with the scandal and potential stigmatization.

Meanwhile, the All India Universities Association (AIU) has suspended Al-Falah University’s membership, citing the seriousness of the allegations and concerns over institutional integrity.

Implications and Next Steps

  • Security Threat: The alleged terror module involving medical professionals indicates a deeply embedded and unconventional threat, with radicalisation possibly spreading in educational settings.

  • Institutional Scrutiny: Al-Falah University faces an existential credibility crisis. Authorities will closely examine how recruitment, background checks, and campus oversight were managed.

  • Regulatory Pressure: The cancellation of medical registrations and the AIU suspension suggests regulatory fallout could be severe if links are confirmed.

  • Community Impact: Students, faculty, and local residents may bear the brunt of long-term reputational damage, regardless of the final legal outcome.

Conclusion

The Faridabad mosque checks, detentions, and university-level probe underscore the scale and seriousness of the investigation following the Delhi blast. With multiple agencies involved and the spotlight on Al-Falah University, this case could reshape how India views radicalisation and terrorism within professional and educational institutions.
