100 Flights Cancelled, Chaos at Airports, DGCA Steps In

Panic and anger gripped airports across the country after nearly 100 flights were suddenly cancelled, leaving thousands of passengers stranded and frustrated. Major airports witnessed chaotic scenes as travellers protested against airlines for poor communication and lack of proper arrangements. Many passengers complained that they were informed about cancellations at the last moment, while others were left waiting for hours without clear updates. Business meetings, family gatherings, and a number of domestic and international travel plans were all negatively impacted.

Amid the growing outrage, pilots came forward to share their difficulties, highlighting issues such as excessive workload, fatigue, long duty hours, and insufficient rest. According to pilot associations, continuous operational pressure is not only affecting their health but could also pose a serious risk to flight safety. They alleged that repeated warnings regarding work conditions had been ignored by airline management for a long time.

Taking note of the escalating situation, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has called an emergency meeting with airline officials, pilot unions, and senior aviation authorities. The aviation watchdog said that passenger safety is its top priority and that a detailed review of the mass flight cancellations will be conducted. DGCA has also directed airlines to ensure immediate refunds, alternative travel arrangements, and proper assistance to affected passengers.

Aviation experts believe that if the issues related to pilot fatigue, staff shortages, and poor scheduling are not resolved soon, such disruptions could become more frequent in the future. The situation has once again exposed gaps in operational planning and crisis management by airlines.

For now, all eyes are on the DGCA’s emergency meeting, which is expected to bring strict guidelines for airlines to prevent such large-scale disruptions and restore passenger confidence in air travel.
